What is Baltic Amber?

Baltic Amber is not a stone and therefore warm to the touch, as well as very comfortable and light to wear. Baltic amber (succinite) is fossilised resin produced by plants 40 - 50 million years ago. In nature the resin would have been used by plants as an antibiotic against viruses, a substance for healing cuts or a plaster for wound dressing. Now fossilised, its healing properties have been captured and are release once the resin has been warmed by the skin.

Baltic amber vs other amber?

Baltic ambers healing properties are due to its high succinic acid content. Of all types of amber, Baltic amber contains the most succinic acid, which makes it the most valued. Succinic acid is not found in many fossil resins similar to amber.

What research has been done on Baltic Amber?

The active ingredient in Baltic amber is succinic acid, which was analysed by the pioneer of modern bacteriology and Nobel-prize winner Robert Koch (1886). He confirmed its positive influences and discovered that there is no risk of the accumulation of surplus amounts of succinic acid in the body. Recent scientific research has also proved that succinic acid has a very positive influence, it strengthens the body, improves immunity and the balance of acids.

Where else in nature is succinic acid found?

Succinic acid is found in many contemporary plants and is a common and indispensable food ingredient. However, deficiencies of succinic acid are frequent as it is rather rarely found in nature. Even unripe gooseberries and rhubarb stalks, which are the richest in the acid, contain a thousand times less of the acid that the Baltic amber- succinite.

How old does the child need to be to wear a bracelet?

We recommend that the bracelets are not worn by children under the age of 3 years - this is because the bracelets are threaded on elastic, and do not have the safety feature of a knot between each bead.

Is it OK for my child to wear the amber teething necklace 24/7 including when asleep?

We recommend you take the necklace off whenever your child doesn't have supervision. A safe alternative if you would like your child to wear the amber at night, is to wrap the necklace around your childs ankle under footed pyjamas.

Is it okay to get the amber teething necklace wet?

We recommend that the necklace is removed during swimming and bath time, as the beads are threaded on natural silk thread, which will deteriorate and break more easily if it is repeatedly gotten wet.
