Craft Bioglitter® is a new innovation in glitter. A new glitter produced from materials that addresses the environmental micro plastic issues associated with polyester glitter.
Bioglitter®, sometimes referred to as ecoglitter, is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic based glitter and has been developed to tackle the part of microplastic pollution created by glitter. The Bioglitter® brand is often misunderstood as being a just a biodegradable glitter, however, it represents much more than that.
Completely unique, Bioglitter®, uses natural and plant-derived,non-plastic marerial as it's basis, rather than synthetic plastic or bioplastics. It is also the only glitter available that is not just compostable but also proven to biodegrade into harmless substances in the natural environment.
Bioglitter® replaces the core polyester film used in traditional glitter with a unique and special form of cellulose from hardwoods, primarily eucalyptus sourced from responsibly managed and certified plantations operating to PEFC™ standards. The coating used on Bioglitter® are being replaced with our new patent pending natural coating.
Bioglitter contains very low levels of heavy metals because of it’s cellulose content, is formulated to offer enhanced brilliance and go further, weight for weight, compared with normal PVC plastic educational glitters.
Craft Bioglitter currently contains a small amount of synthetic material used in the colour coating in the glitter. This is necessary to create bright colour and maintain the high reflective effect of Craft Bioglitter. Compared with plastic glitter, this will have a significantly reduced impact on the environment and as with all Bioglitter products we are driving to achieve 100% plastic free.
