Full description

A set made up of 36 pieces of mandala mushrooms in 12 different colour dilutions for creating mandalas and any other open-ended play.

Loose parts play was first coined by architect Simon Nicholson, he believed that we are all creative and that "loose parts" in our environment will empower creativity. Loose parts can be made made, or from nature. Loose parts are something that will inspire childrens imagination and creativity in a way that is unique to each individual.

By giving thought to the possiblilities of how a child learns, the environment they are in and the materials they use can give meaning to loose parts play. By providing loose parts in a child's environment, the possiblities of creative play are endless. Loose parts play ignites imagination, curiosity ad creativity in the child.

Loose parts play involves pieces that can be carried, combined, moved taken apart and put together in a myriad of ways. Loose parts can be combined with other materials such as in sensory play, or building. There is not right or wrong way to use loose parts, they are used simply at the direction and imagination of the child.

One of the biggest benifits or loose parts play is the promotion of open-ended learning. Open ended materials promote problem solving, and lend themselves to play that is child centred, sparking curiosity and exploration which leads to natural learning.
